1. High-Performance Polyamides (Nylons):
It is a key raw material for producing Nylon 1313 (Polytridecanamide). This engineering plastic exhibits excellent dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation properties, making it ideal for automotive parts, electrical components, and industrial fibers.
2. Specialty Polyesters & Plasticizers:
Used in synthesizing copolyesters and polyester polyols for coatings, adhesives, and elastomers. Its derivatives can serve as efficient plasticizers, enhancing the flexibility and low-temperature performance of polymers like PVC.
3. Fragrances & Musk Aromas:
Serves as a crucial starting material for the synthesis of macrocyclic musk fragrances (e.g., Ethylene Brassylate). These musks are valued in perfumery for their mild, sweet, and long-lasting scent profile and superior biodegradability compared to nitro-musks.
4. Corrosion Inhibitors & Lubricants:
Its metal salt derivatives (e.g., zinc brassylicate) are effective corrosion inhibitors in coatings and lubricating greases.
5. Powder Coatings:
Used in the production of polyamide powders for coatings, providing smooth finishes and good mechanical properties.
